Big Data: first stop Santa Claus, next stop: GOD…?

It used to be that only two dudes knew when I was sleeping, awake, being naughty and being good: Santa Claus and God. And at least one of them doesn't exist.

Now with the rise of Big Data, everyone is trying to muscle in on the action. They wanna know everything about you.

"In 2012, the Obama administration announced the Big Data Research and Development Initiative, which explored how big data could be used to address important problems facing the government"

Are you ready for a world with no privacy?
"Government agents can sneak onto your property in the middle of the night, put a GPS device on the bottom of your car and keep track of everywhere you go. This doesn't violate your Fourth Amendment rights…"

Big Data; Big deal. Who cares? Of this One they will find nothing; been looking many years now to no avail. If you’re talking about the tracks left behind; hope they get big a laugh out of such foolishness.

Wondering if the information technology, big dada will take the place of Big Government in rapid time bringing an end to the sleepwalkers count. If one gains the electrical power will have the power to dictate their demands to the computer world. On the other hand, they who control the gold hold a priority in this game.

Some tine back this One answered a question about possible social implications of the singularity? The answer seems to fit in right here now for you with the same answer:

Healthy Fur,

With the advancing technological innovations, I would hope the world’s population would learn from the supercomputers how to look within themselves for wisdom rather than the computer world of artificial intelligence. The potential singularly of humankind is upon us. With the head of man, going ahead leaving the heart behind societies are tumbling down and each one of us are responsible through our own ignorance of not doing anything about it. If you are as indicated by this question, we both need to double our efforts. You indeed are a Beckon of Light to all on this sight and in that way becoming a Beckon of Light to the world, thank you.
Big fan.

What is the biggest genealogy data base?

Roots Web World Connect is the largest free one, I believe. It has 659,553,951 names from half a million or so smaller data bases.

Ancestry.com has 30,000+ data bases. It is probably the biggest genealogy site. Their largest single data base is "Public Member Trees", with 1.7 billion entries, followed by the 1930 US Census, with 124 million entries.

I don't know how many records the Mormons have, but it is in the billions.

Yo'd get a better answer if you'd define "database" and "large". Both RWWC and Ancestry's PMT have lots and lots of duplicates; the same person is in multiple trees.

RWWC is, as I said, composed of half a million user-contibuted trees; you can count it as one massive database or half a million data bases with one access point.

Ancestry.com – again, 30 thousand data bases, some big, some small, with one access point.

Do you mean "large" in number of entries, or number of unique entries? My money would be on the 1930 for largest single data base with very few duplicates. (Less than 1% of the population got counted twice; it happened, but it was rare.)

You might be the man from the Guiness Book of World Records looking for a new entry for the 2012 edition. You might be someone interested in genealogy who used "data base" when you meant "free web site". Hard to tell. Some details would help.

Hi,
Big Data & Hadoop have a huge career scope ahead, especially. When technologies like SQL are becoming obsolete to handle the huge amounts of data . It is no surprise that your friends are switching to a career in Hadoop. This is an ongoing trend in IT major countries. Organizations like Ebay, Amazon etc. Are hiring Hadoop professionals, even freshers at lucrative packages. So if you wish to work in Data analysis field in future, Hadoop is a good way to go.
If you have a basic knowledge of Java(OOPs technology) you can learn Hadoop. If you take a course to learn the same you can learn get a gist of the technology in less than 4 weeks. Practice will do the rest of the work. You can try online learning platforms like WizIQ.com for a Hadoop course. They have a good range of courses in Developer, Admin & Analyst domain.
Wish you good luck for your Hadoop career.
